Moms in the Middle: ADHD & Perimenopause Group

Moms in the Middle · 8-Week Therapy Group · Starting November 2026

For women navigating ADHD and perimenopause at the same time — and wondering why everything got harder.

You had systems. They used to work.

Now the brain fog, the forgetting, the 2 a.m. wake-ups, the short fuse — it all landed at once, and nobody can tell you which part is hormones and which part is ADHD.

You're not imagining it. And you're not the only one.

Estrogen and dopamine are connected, and when estrogen drops in perimenopause, ADHD symptoms that were manageable for decades can suddenly stop being manageable. Many women get their first ADHD diagnosis in their forties for exactly this reason. Others were diagnosed years ago and feel like their medication quietly stopped working. Either way, the experience is the same: the workarounds fail, the shame spikes, and everyone around you keeps saying "that's just midlife."

This group is eight weeks with a therapist who understands both halves of that picture, alongside other women living it. Part education, part skills, part the relief of being in a room where nobody needs it explained.

Over eight weeks we'll cover:

  • What's actually happening — estrogen, dopamine, and why ADHD gets louder in perimenopause
  • Sorting the overlap: brain fog, sleep, mood, and attention, and what to bring to your doctor or prescriber
  • Rebuilding executive-function systems for a brain that has changed
  • Emotional regulation and the short fuse — with your partner, your kids, yourself
  • Rejection sensitivity, masking, and the exhaustion of holding it together at work
  • Sleep, energy, and the boom-and-bust cycle
  • Self-compassion that isn't just a word — what to do with decades of "why can't I just…"
  • Building your plan for after the group ends

This group is for you if

  • You're a woman 40+ with ADHD — diagnosed or strongly suspected
  • Perimenopause or menopause has made your symptoms noticeably worse
  • You want practical tools and real company, not a lecture
  • You can commit to eight consecutive weeks

This group isn't the right fit if

  • You're in acute crisis and need individual support right now
  • You're looking for a diagnosis — see our adult ADHD evaluation instead
  • You'd prefer one-on-one work — our ADHD therapy may be a better fit

"I thought I was losing my mind. Turns out I was losing estrogen, and my ADHD noticed before I did."

Facilitated by a licensed therapist who conducts Shoreside's adult ADHD evaluations — so if a diagnosis question comes up during the group, the next step is already here.
