Adult ADHD Evaluations in Milwaukee
Maybe it's ADHD. Maybe it isn't. Let's find out.
Starting October 1, 2026 · $1,200 · Adults 18+ · In person in Whitefish Bay
You're capable. Things get done. But it costs you more than it seems to cost other people — more effort, more late nights, more systems built on top of systems just to stay afloat.
Maybe you're always reorganizing and never organized. You wait until the pressure hits and then pull it off. Your attention slides from one thing to the next. You lose track of what you started, and ordinary tasks that look simple for everyone else leave you drained.
Somewhere along the way, a question starts to form: could this be ADHD?
An adult ADHD evaluation gives you a clear, evidence-based answer — and a plan for what comes next. Evaluations begin October 1, 2026. Reserve a spot now and we'll contact you to schedule as soon as the calendar opens.
Adults 18+ · In person in Whitefish Bay (not available virtually) · Private pay, superbill provided
ADHD in adults rarely looks like the stereotype
Most adults who wonder about ADHD have spent decades compensating for it. You may have done fine in school. Built a career. Raised kids. Developed elaborate workarounds that hold — until they don't.
From the outside, it looks handled. On the inside, it can feel like you're permanently one step behind your own brain.
Adults who reach out to us are often dealing with some mix of:
- Trouble staying focused or engaged, even with things that matter to you
- Procrastinating on important tasks until a deadline forces the issue
- Difficulty starting — or finishing — what you meant to do
- Forgetting appointments, conversations, or where you put things
- Time that seems to disappear; chronic lateness or underestimating how long things take
- Feeling disorganized no matter how many planners you buy
- Not knowing what to do first when everything feels urgent
- Impulsive decisions, spending, or comments you regret
- Emotions that hit fast and hard — especially around criticism — and relationships that strain because of it
- Restlessness, or a mind that never fully switches off
- Getting overwhelmed by ordinary adult responsibilities
- Bursts of intense hyperfocus followed by days where nothing moves
Sometimes ADHD explains it. Sometimes anxiety, depression, poor sleep, chronic stress, trauma, or perimenopause is doing more of the work than you'd expect. Often it's a combination. A careful evaluation sorts that out — which is the whole point.
What an ADHD evaluation at Shoreside involves
The goal isn't to hand you a score. It's to understand how your brain actually works, what your life has looked like, and whether ADHD is the best explanation for what's hard right now.
- A thorough clinical interviewWe talk through what you're experiencing today and your history with attention, organization, school, work, relationships, and daily life — including the workarounds you've built.
- Evidence-based ADHD assessmentWe use validated rating scales and structured measures to look closely at attention, executive functioning, and ADHD symptoms across settings and across your lifetime.
- The whole picture, not just the checklistDifficulty concentrating doesn't automatically mean ADHD. We screen for the things that mimic or travel with it — anxiety, depression, sleep, stress, and other mental health concerns — so the answer you get is the right one.
- A feedback sessionWhen the evaluation is complete, we meet again and walk through the findings together. You're not left to decode a report alone; you get to ask questions and understand what the results mean for your life.
- A written report with recommendationsYou leave with documentation of the evaluation, the findings, and individualized next steps you can act on — and share with a prescriber, an employer, or a school if you choose to.
Who conducts the evaluation
Victoria Hagan, MA, LPC
Shoreside Therapies
Victoria conducts Shoreside's adult ADHD evaluations. Evaluations are reviewed in consultation with a licensed psychologist.
You don't have to have struggled in school to have ADHD
This is the misconception we hear most. Some adults with ADHD were the disruptive kid who couldn't sit still. Plenty weren't.
You might have been the quiet daydreamer. The student who started everything the night before and somehow pulled it off. The high achiever who ran on anxiety, deadlines, and perfectionism instead of a system. Or someone whose life simply got harder to manage as the responsibilities stacked up.
Good grades and a good job don't rule out ADHD. That's why the evaluation looks at the pattern of your whole life, not a single checklist.
What if it isn't ADHD?
Then you've learned something important. The purpose of an evaluation isn't to prove you have ADHD — it's to understand what's actually going on.
Attention and executive-function problems overlap with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, sleep disorders, hormonal changes, and more. If ADHD isn't the best explanation, we'll tell you what likely is, and what would help.
Either way, you walk out with more clarity than you walked in with.
How much does an adult ADHD evaluation cost?
Adult ADHD Evaluation: $1,200
Includes the clinical interview, assessment measures, scoring and interpretation, the feedback session, and your written report with recommendations.
Shoreside Therapies is a private-pay practice. We provide documentation you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement; coverage for evaluations varies by plan, so check with your insurer first if reimbursement matters to you.
What happens after a diagnosis?
A diagnosis isn't the end of the conversation. For most people it's the moment things start to make sense.
Depending on your results and what you want to change, recommendations might include ADHD-focused therapy, executive function coaching (especially for college students and young adults), accommodations at work or school, couples or family support, or a conversation with a medical provider about medication.
If Shoreside offers what you need next, we'll help you take that step here. If we don't, we'll point you to someone who does.
A note for women in their forties and fifties: if your attention, memory, and patience all got worse at the same time, you're not imagining it — estrogen and dopamine are linked, and perimenopause can turn manageable ADHD into unmanageable ADHD. Alongside evaluations, Victoria facilitates Moms in the Middle, an eight-week ADHD & perimenopause group starting November 2026.
