I specialize in therapy with children (age 5+), teens, and college students who are struggling with anxiety, depression, behavior issues or life transitions. My goal is to help them learn skills needed to cope with life’s challenges, feel better about themselves, and reach their full potential.

I use a variety of therapeutic interventions depending on the child’s individual needs, including CBT, SFBT, Mindfulness, and Art Therapy. I enjoy using therapeutic games and activities to teach life skills and growth mindset concepts. I have experience treating Anxiety Disorders (generalized, social, separation, panic), OCD, Depressive Disorders, ADHD, IED, ODD, and ASD (level 1 or 2) and Adjustment Disorders.

I provide support to parents and families of young children as their involvement is an important part of the process.

For 22 years, I have been working with children and teens in a variety of settings including K-12 schools, a children’s hospital, a residential children’s home and private practice.  I have experience treating Anxiety Disorders (generalized, social, separation, panic), OCD, Adjustment Disorders, Depressive Disorders, ADHD, IED, ODD, and ASD (level 1 or 2).

I use a variety of therapeutic interventions depending on the child’s individual needs, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Art Therapy and/or Play Therapy.  I enjoy using therapeutic games and art activities to teach life skills (coping skills, self-regulation, cognitive restructuring, social communication, problem-solving, executive functioning) and growth mindset concepts.

As a therapist, I am drawn to those who tend to struggle with issues like depression, life transitions/change, worry, anxiety, perfectionism, rumination, social anxiety, self-doubt, shame, and feelings of meaninglessness. I am interested in the challenges and advantages of what it means to be highly sensitive or an empath. My approach is to non-judgmentally understand what drives the behaviors that seem so difficult to change. I am dedicated to establishing an authentic, intentional, and trusting relationship.

I use a variety of different types of therapy, but the core of my work is based on Person-Centered therapy. It is built on the concept of unconditional positive regard. In other words, I want to be someone who will meet you wherever you are at and help you to reach your goals. Considering the uniqueness of each individual, no one therapy will suffice.

My passion for helping people began at a young age. Studying social work, counseling, psychology, and school counseling have allowed me to work with diverse populations from young children through older adults. As a therapist, I am the first to admit to being 100% human; I make mistakes, I fall down, I stumble, but most importantly, I keep going. If you need me to be I can be very direct, providing tools and strategies to help you get from point A to point B. I integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Assertive Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Positive Psychology, Strengths-Based Approach, and Mindfulness Therapy.

Greetings, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I graduated from Alverno College and am licensed in Wisconsin as a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMHNP-BC. As a nurse practitioner, I provide psychiatric assessment, consultation, and treatment.

My mental health specialty spans across the lifespan.  I have been supporting patients in the treatment of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, sleep issues, PTSD and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. I practice in a holistic manner and rather than just addressing the symptoms of mental illness, I believe in a broad scope of intervention, including diet, exercise, meditation, and of course therapy.

My goal is to serve mental health medication management needs, and together as a team, we will work toward an improved mental health.

Warm Regards,
Joline

Counseling does not have to be just for those with mental health disorders. I work with many different individuals going through transitions, hoping to improve their lives and refocus their energy in a positive way. After the first appointment, most of my clients have said: “Wow, I feel better already!” Counseling is a way to improve your life, find your path, become more assertive, meet your goals, and improve your general outlook on life.
