"What we don't need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human". (Brene Brown)
Do you experience shame and anxiety? Is it difficult for you to prioritize yourself? Do you struggle with managing the "hats" you wear? Do you struggle with managing big, intense emotions? I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience in working with individuals, parents, children, and families. I specialize in using client-centered approaches and interventions that assist clients with connecting with their inner self as they explore self-esteem, confidence, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and grief, and life transitions. I have extensive experience in helping parents navigate their children's struggles and behaviors, as well as working with those who are in foster care or who have been adopted. I completed specialized training in TAC (Trained in Adoption Competency) and Family Systems Trauma therapy and work with clients and families experiencing attachment difficulties due to complex unresolved loss and grief.
The therapeutic process is a special relationship between the client and the therapist and it takes courage to be open to the possibility of therapy. It is difficult to take the first step and I work to ensure that every client feels comfortable and safe during sessions. I engaged in therapy to address trauma and loss in my life and I know how much shame and guilt can be under the surface. I will listen without judgement, ask questions, and respect where you are willing to begin.
Additional areas of expertise: children (5 and older), adolescents, young adults, parents, anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, life transitions, trauma, loss and grief, foster care and adoption, family systems trauma, parent/child conflict
